Why you shouldn’t undergo scoliosis surgery
Finding the right scoliosis treatment often feels overwhelming. Doctors and patients tend to focus more on aspects they have little control over, forgetting completely about things that can be managed for ensuring a better quality of life in the long-term. Most scoliosis treatments available nowadays focus entirely on preventing curve progression while giving very little importance to a patient’s quality of life months are years after the surgery.
Traditional treatments like scoliosis surgery can provide initial relief and some reduction in curve progression. However, these benefits are typically temporary and end up causing more harm and pain over time. The question becomes, are these temporary benefits worth it? In most cases, they are not.
Most scoliosis surgery patients suffer complications at some point in their lives. Implants can mve or break, often making the situation even worse than it was before. One of the major disadvantages of undergoing scoliosis surgery is chronic pain. Back and shoulder pain after scoliosis surgery are common concerns. Implant failure, nerve damage, and joint degeneration among other complications are also factors that can decrease a patient’s quality of life. This is the reason surgery is never the correct treatment when you consider the long-term complications it may lead to. Non-surgical or alternative treatments are a better way to go about it with no possible complications to worry about in the future.
