Hi my name is Christina Sar [sp], and I’m 21 years old. I’ve had scoliosis since I was about eight or nine years old. I was diagnosed, and the doctors basically told me to just wait and see what happens and I did. And then, I started growing. During my growth spurts, I got a lot worse. My curve got really bad, and they decided to give me some braces. I tried two different kinds, and they didn’t work, and it was really hard for me to stick with that because they were uncomfortable and I was a teenager, so it was really hard for me to wear them at school. So I basically left those off.
And, so, essentially my curves got worse as I got older. Scoliosis never really bothered me. I never really had that much pain until a few years ago, when I went to college and it got really bad and I thought, “I’m only 19 and my back hurts so much. I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like when I get older.”
So I did some research, and I went online and found Dr. Hersh and the Scoliosis Correction Centers, and my parents decided to let me come and check it out. And I’ve been doing this program for about two years now, and I’ve gotten a lot of improvement. When I first came, my x-ray showed that I had a 62 degree curve on the top and a 55 degree curve on the bottom. As of last week, I now have a 46 degree curve on the top and a 32 degree curve on the bottom. So, I’ve gotten a lot better.
It’s a lot of work. I’m not going to lie, but it’s definitely worth it. It’s lifelong benefits. Dr. Hersh has really helped me. At first, it was a little discouraging because I didn’t see results right away, but he just told me to keep going, and it’s definitely been worth it. So if you have scoliosis, I would definitely, highly recommend Dr. Hersh.
