Comment from one of our Scoliosis Patients
Ever walk into a room you’ve never been in before and know your in the right place. You know that you were meant to be there. This is exactly how I felt walking into the Scoliosis Correction Center on Hungerford St. in CT. After several years of searching for an alternative treatment for scoliosis my prayers have been answered.I am 39 yrs. old and I have scoliosis. I’ve had a Harrington rod fused to my spine for 24 yrs. Fortunately I have been able to avoid any major complications. However I still get nagging pains once in a great while and deal with the physical limitation due to fused rod.
My motivation for visiting the Scoliosis Correction Center was not for my own personal reasons. Julia my daughter who is 14 yrs. old has battled scoliosis most of her life. Through my experience with scoliosis I was able to detect her scoliosis early on. When Julia was 9 yrs. old she was braced with a Boston Brace for a short time which failed to help any. Shortly after brace was removed she became a candidate for growing rod which served as an internal brace. The concept of the rods sounded reasonable. However she had go for surgery every 8 months to extend these rods.
Through alot of pain, medication, and missed time at school we came to a crossroad. Julia had grown out of her rods and had to decide on the next step. The Dr’s had suggested spinal fusion which we refused simply as we felt she wasn’t done growing. Her rods were removed and over a short time she got worse. I started to research other options, and there aren’t many. Then one day I came across the treatment methods used at the Scoliosis Correction Center. The concept seemed to fit as it is not invasive and life changing as surgery. My husband and I did our homework as the the concept seemed to good to be true.
Our first step was to visit The Scoliosis Correction Center in Hartford, CT. We visited the Center and met with Dr. Hersh, and immediately we knew we were in the right hands as his motivation for the treatment had stemmed from the same reasons as ours. Julia began treatment in Jan. 2012 when she began treatment her curve was 78 degrees up top and 80 degrees on the bottom. After her first day of treatment we noticed a difference. After ten days of treatment we were amazed. Julia’s had improved to 74 degrees up top and 66 on the bottom. Julia’s energy had increased, her postured had improved, and she grew a couple of inches.
IT WORKS!! Thank you to such wonderful people that have helped us in the Center. You have changed our lives in so many wonderful ways. Our paths have crossed for a reason I will be sure to pass on the good news and share our experience. Thank you for all that you have done.

I had already been to countless orthopedics, physical therapists, spinecore doctors, and osteopaths by this point, so I knew it would be surgery or something by the grace of god to correct this curve. Determined to find some new treatment, I stumbled upon your website this past summer and finally the information you presented just made simple sense. The pathology you describe leaves no room for discrepancy like the other reasons I have heard, For instance, the misalignment of the atlas is the source of the pathology, one doctor feed to me. But then five minutes later he contradicted himself when he mentioned migraine patients present with the same misalignment in the atlas. I then asked him why migraine patients do not develop scoliosis. His answer was more research needs to be done. Now, I am not saying the misalignment in the atlas doesn’t compound the issue, I’m sure it does. But in my opinion, as a scholar of science, for scoliosis to be corrected I think a correct understanding of the pathology needs to be made. Needless to say, I did not trust his practices after that.So after hearing and paying for treatments that did nothing to improve my curve, I was hesitant to make an appointment with your office this July. Instead, I read your case studies, saw how you treated patients through posture and decided I could give it a shot myself. Needless to say, after 3 months of pure hell of working my back muscles and determination I have corrected my curve to 15 degrees (I just had it X-rayed last week). My ribs have shifted! My right rib hump that I always thought made me look deformed is practically no more! The results I have seen by using your idea that scoliosis can be corrected with proper posture and proper head alignment is amazing. Now, I am positive that what you are practicing at your center produces results. Therefore, I would love to become a patient at your center because I am sure I could benefit more under the watch of a professional and the devices you have at your center. I am from Fairfield County, CT so travel is not an issue. Please if you think I am a candidate for your center can you tell me how I can become apart of the magic you’re doing there.

Dear Dr. Hersh I know I have not been there in over a year for treatment due to the fact that I let my life get in the way. My life meaning school, softball (last spring),my summer job, and anything else that came up along the way. I now realize what was most important and that was my health . As you could probably assume my scoliosis has gotten worse due to my lack of responsibility when it comes to my exercises. I recently had an issue where my rib was making an impact on my lung which is now getting much better since I have been doing my exercises and more every single day. I would still like to avoid a spinal fusion as I really don’t think it will benefit me as well as the dangers that come with it. I have more determination then ever to work for this due to the fact that I have been fearing surgery as a possibility until I have gotten better which I have. I am interested to know the dates for any of the upcoming sessions you have, my parents will probably send you a similar e-mail, but since I am now 18 and technically an adult I should contact you on my own as well so that you know I have more determination then ever and will not let anything stand in my way as I am and will continue to do my exercises and anything else you give me along the way to ensure this never happens again. I really hope you can help me as you did before. I’ll be looking forward to hearing back from you.
